I’m running a night half marathon. Need advice!!!?
I’m running in the Disney World Half Marathon on October 2nd. I need a little help as to what I should do during the week before I run the race. The race starts at 10pm at night because it’s a night fun run. So here’s my dilemma, I can’t eat before I run and I always have to run first thing when I get up but I can’t go the whole day without eating for a run that starts at 10 pm. Help!! Need some advice on what to do the week and the day of the marathon.
You can always eat just don’t eat dinner before the race or have a light snack for instance around 7 or 8PM. Maybe just a smoothie or some bananas or a power bar. After the race you can eat more.
Start training for the race now by having one day a week running later in the evening for instance at 6PM or 7PM. Eat something light at 4PM and have dinner at your jog. Also try eating something during a race for instance some Energy jelly beans, athletic gum or power bar. Try to stimulate your race conditions at Disney. However if you can’t eat and run and you can’t change then don’t force it.
When your at Disney just have fun. Don’t wear yourself out by going to all the parks. Pace yourself and train. Some good running areas are Celebration or Downtown Orlando around Lake Eola or the Orange trail by Clermont. You should be tapering your miles so you don’t need to run many miles the week before your 1/2 marathon. Maybe just 3 miles to loosen you up. Try running later so you get used to running at night maybe even trying to run some of the course at Disney or at least looking at it with a map.
