In Disney’s Aladdin, why do all the women dress like belly dancers?
This movie takes place in the ancient Middle East, and judging by the many references to “Allah”, the characters are Muslim. Correct me if I’m mistaken, but I thought Muslim women in that area were expected to wear very modest non-revealing clothing, and certainly not be exposing their midriffs. Was it different in the past?

its a disney movie. they tend not to be so precise with things like that when they’re making movies. for example in Pocahontas when john smith falls in love with Pocahontas and befriends the native americans. my details are bit off but i know for a fact that that is a bunch of bull.
disney movies are aimed at children so they tend not to be correct with things like that because 1) they think we won’t notice and 2) it will make the story better if they stretch the truth
