here goes…running marathon in jan 2010?
disney marathon.
me. 5’10 – 205, active (box,thaibox)..I don’t really do “roadwork” for conditioning just skip a ton of rope, hour long intense workouts..etc.
furthest I’ve ever ran was a 15K a few years back and I think I started running a few days prior .
anyway…how do I tackle getting in shape to run this marathon? I can run at night no problem after work and on weekends in florida heat…probably have to cut down on gym time I guess.
this is entirely different for me..is there a mileage I should be shooting for, time..what? should I be comfortable barely sweating after running a certain amount?
When I ran that 15K all I knew when I crossed that finish line was I didn’ t want anybody to touch me or I might collapse and die right there on the spot. The next day I couldn’t walk.

As luck has it, the Houston marathon comes up in January as well and there is an ongoing training plan for it with each week’s plan being posted on Sunday or Monday morning.
This plan works well for a first timer, but it’s in week 11 now so you should ease into it. The link below is for the “index” of the postings. Look through them and see where you are comfortable jumping in.
The workouts consist of easy runs, speedwork, hillwork, and a weekly long run. The long run is the most important for completion. Check it out and email the author with any questions at admin@ksmithwriter.com
