I’m the one who answered your other question about Blizzard Beach versus Typhoon Lagoon. You mentioned your son is 13… that’s such an awesome age for Disneyworld!! My sons are 12 and 14 and we found that was a great age for ALL of us to make the most of such a big trip!

As for the best hotel, this is what I can recommend:

If money is no object, then the Polynesian is pretty amazing… that’s the one my two teens said they would have chosen. BUT… if you’re like us, we don’t mind staying in a budget minded hotel since all we’re doing there is sleeping anyway. We opted for the Pop Century Resort, and we’re really glad we did. It was fine for the four of us – my two guys didn’t mind crashing on the same bed at night. The room is basic, with two double beds, tv, dresser, etc. It’s like a standard Holiday Inn, but Disney themed. The food court is kinda like the one I had in college, and if you’re going to be using the Disney Dining plan (which I HIGHLY recommend!!) there are many options available. The only thing we ever ate there was breakfast before heading out to the bus stops for the parks. One advantage to Pop Century is that the busses are dedicated for that resort, meaning you don’t have to share like the “All Star” resorts do… no “milk runs” that way. The bussing system is very efficent, and since it’s included with your stay at the resorts, might as well take advantage of them. When we were there in Ocotber, most nights we didn’t get back till after 9 or ten at night, and the pools never seemed to close, so my boys went to the Hippy Dippy pool each night for an hour or two just to goof off before bed. It’s right outside the food court, so you can sit and watch them or, since yours is 13, trust him to find his way back when he’s done. We trusted ours, and they were fine.

How long are you going for? First visit there? How many of you are going? Planning on leaving DisneyWorld (to hit Busch or Islands of Adventure, etc)? Big eaters, or do most in your party eat like birds? Are you driving there or flying? (Disney’s Magical Express service, free when you stay at one of their resorts, is a great transportation option to and from the airport).
