My speakers on my laptop won’t work?
I have a compaq610, it is windows 7.
When I play music or anything no sound come out of the speakers. A green thing goes up and down whenever the volume gets louder or softer as usual. And I can hear if I put the headphones on.
It happened when my little sister wanted to go to playhousedisney.com, a voice came up saying: “Welcome to Playhouse Disney!” then the sound just went away. I read it could be because of a virus but it is not that. I scanned using Anti – Viruses, virus removal tools and stuff but it won’t work!
Please include step by step instructions in your answer if you know.

What might be wrong is that the laptop always thinks the headphones are on, because the jack port is messed up. Therefore, sound will only produce when the headphones are on. It is reversible, though. Inside the port where you plug in your headphones, there is a little switch that triggers headphones mode on or off. I’ve read that you have to plug and unplug your headphones rapidly a lot of times. If that doesn’t work, you might have to get it fixed somewhere, because it could require the laptop being taken apart.
