Anyone have any opinions on the Economy Hotels at Walt Disney World?
I’m taking my kids to Disney this summer and want to stay on the grounds but can’t decide which economy hotel to use- they all look pretty equal. Anyone ever stayed there or have any great Walt Disney tips? I’ve been doing research and want to make this the best trip ever for my kids as they have never been. We will be there for 5 days and I have an 11 yr. old daughter and a 5 yr. old son. I know all the basics, park hopping, extra magic hours, etc. I just want to make sure they both have a great time and are totally saturated by their Disney experience! I haven’t been since I was a child so it will be like a first time for me, too! I know we won’t be in the hotel a great deal, but we want to have a nice place for when we are there but not pay a fortune. Anyway, any help is appreciated! Thanks!
The way I understand it is that you are wanting to stay at a value resort, correct? My recommendations would be either the All Star Movies or Pop Century. While all of the value resorts are pretty much the same, these are the newest. Then you also have the Music and Sports. Sine you have a girl you may not want to do sport. But the last two are the older of the values. For kids I think that the All Star Movies will be your best option. The icons are amazing and kids always love it. The icons at Pop are also great, but I think mom and dad will like them a little more than the kids. But still, when a little kid sees these huge icons, they will be amazed. Now another option would be to stay in the new All Star Music Family Suite. They just opened these up. They can hold up to 6 people, so you would have a little more room to move around, but they also have a small kitchen. I believe it has a microwave and refridgerator. It’s another option for you, but I think they run slightly higher than the moderate resorts.
As far as tips, there are so many. I definitely would do the dining plan. It will make your trip a little more expensive, but you will save a lot of money while dining in Disney. If you are staying on property and won’t have a car, this is the absolute best way to go and even great if you do have a car. I think that a character meal will also be great, since you have a little boy and girl, something like Chef Mickey’s would probably be good. You can also eat at Cinderella’s Royal Table in the castle at Magic Kingdom.
All the parks are great. Since your son is a little younger, you will probably be spending the most time at Magic Kingdom and maybe Animal Kingdom. All the parks are great, but these tend to be a little more popular for younger kids.
I also love Downtown Disney. It’s beautiful at nice and very enjoyable. It’s also fun for the kids because they have the huge World of Disney Store and Once Upon a Toy Store. They are large and sell everything you could possibly think of, I love them.
I think this covers most things for you. There are so many different things that I could recommend, but each person will be different, so it really depends on what you like.
One final suggestion I have is contacting a good travel agent. Find an agent that specializes in Disney, trust me, it is well worth it. I would stay away from online discounters like Expedia and stuff for two reasons. First, they usually cost more than using a travel agent and second they usually don’t offer the Disney hotels. Not to mention they are not travel agents and don’t help to book your trip, and many people have had pretty bad experiences using them.
I have used http://mousetrips.com/WaltDisneyWorld.html for the past several years and I have been 120% satisfied with them. They answer all my questions, plan the trip, book my dinings, give me recommendations, etc. It’s great because they know everything about Disney and can give me tons of tips for my trip so I can have the best possible time. Since it has been a little while since you have been to Disney, a lot has changed. It can be difficult to book your own trip and get everything out of it. Some people say you can find the same information online. I don’t really agree. While some of it you can find online, not all of it, plus you won’t have to do the research. My agent does not charge anything for her services, so it really is a win-win situation. I definitely recommend them. There website is also a great resource to plan your trip.
I hope this answers all your questions. I go to Disney quite often, so if you have anymore, feel free to e-mail me.
Hope this helps!
